CHANA DAL CURRY
INGREDIENTS:-
Bengal Gram(chana dal)-2 cups(wash and soak for 30 mins)
Potato-1 large(peeled and cut into cubes)
Chopped onion-1 medium
Chopeed tomato-1 large
Ginger and garlic paste-1 tbsp
Cumin seeds-1 tsp
Dry red chili-2
Bay leaves-2
Coriander powder-1/2 tsp
Cumin powder-1/2 tsp
Red chili powder-2 tsp
Turmeric powder-1 tsp
Fenugreek leaves-2 tsp
Garam masala powder-1/2 tsp
Sugar-1/4 tsp
Salt to taste
Oil-2 tbsp
METHOD:-
1-In a cooker heat oil,add cumin seeds,bay leaves and dry red chili.
2-When cumin seeds splutter add chopped onions and saute till onions turned to golden brown.
3-Add ginger-garlic paste and fry till the raw aroma of ginger garlic disappears.
4-Add tomatoes and fry till the tomatoes become soft.
5-Add all dry powders,salt,sugar and fenugreek leaves and mix well.
6-Fry the masala till the oil starts to leave the sides.
7-Add chana dal and potato cubes,mix properly.
8-Add water and cover it,cook in medium flame until 3-4 whistle or till chana dal becomes soft.
9-Serve hot with poori or paratha.
